Why is the Electoral College needed anyway?

Yet again I came across an intelligent individual proposing a solution without fully comprehending its ramifications on one of the boards I frequent. This time it is the Electoral College was in the line of fire.

Here's the solution: get rid of the electoral college. That's what's keeping the two parties in power.

If you remove the Electoral College what is the consequence of that action? You will have even less influence upon the election of a President.

Why? You might ask. Easy. We are then just a straight Democracy rather than a Representative Republic. In a Democracy we would be subjected to the whims of the three to five most populous states. Thus, California, Florida, New York, Illinois and Pennsyvania would be SELECTING your next President. I don't know about you but that sounds very BAD to me. It is the Electoral College that evens out the playing field and forces candidates to enter the heartland and the rustbelt. Without it you can bet places like Oklahoma, Wyoming, Kentucky, The Dakota's and my home state of Alaska would NEVER EVEN BE VISITED. They would be ruled by the mobs in the big cities. That is why the electoral college was created. That is why even though it appears to be an archane system, it really is quite ingenious.

Our Founding Fathers were not short sighted in the least when they instituted the Electoral College. They were wise beyond their years!

Don't have good ideas if you aren't willing to be responsible for them. -- Alan J. Perlis, Epigrams, 1970s

Time to Get Back to Work!

I have a diverse set of correspondence that I keep across many political boundaries, due to my belief that we can "agree to disagree" as Oliver North was so fond of saying.

Anyway some might think that based upon my questioning of President-elect Obama's birth certificate that I would be angry or devastated by the outcome of yesterday's election. You would be correct in the assumption that I am not happy to see a socialist at best and possibly even a Marxist elected to the Presidency of the United States. Yet the reality is that if I had not lived in the former Soviet Republic of the Ukraine I would likely have succumb to his infectious rhetoric and platitudes. However, knowing that a man who walks and talks redistributionism is in reality an American Soviet. Thus, I was not fooled. But that is a discussion for another day. The purpose of this post is to address a feeling that I have incountered on several discussion boards today that can be summarized by the following post:

The United States was born of rebellion. The United States will be born again by rebellion. Benjamin Franklin cries out to pick up our arms and cleanse this land of tyrants. The time for talk is nearing an end.

Anglo-Saxon culture, conservative Christian culture, and the Republic must survive at all costs. We the people must rise up and crush the abomination which is the United States of America. We have become a monster that King George on his worst day could have never imagined. The beast must fall lest it devour us all!

This is a very impassioned view of the current political realities that many of the individuals who our President-elect Obama maligned for "clinging to God and their guns." He was wrong to adopt that view as I believe those who believe a second revolution is needed at this point. I will detail why I feel this way in the response I posted to counter my anonymous friend.

I am a Patriot to the core. I am a Constitutionalists in my political stance. However, I do not believe that now is the time for blood spoken of by Ben Franklin! I believe that now is the time for the approach suggested by Newt Gingrich's American Solutions.

If the nation ever revokes the Constitution that will be the day that we as true patriots will be called upon for the use that the second amendment was established to protect and defend this free nation. Until that day we have a peaceful framework within to work out our differences. And furthermore it is our DUTY AS PATRIOTS to utilize that framework to our nation's greatest benefit.

Therefore, I say we rally to the cause of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; for our God, our Country and our Families! We must stand united in purpose and engage our ideological adversaries and persuade them with long suffering that the cause in which we find ourselves is just. That my fellow conservative Americans is what we must do.

We must honor the founders and their vision. We must fight the good fight each day and be logical and passionate in our defense of Life and Liberty. If we do so the Pursuit of Happiness is assured to all. Not it is the pursuit not the guarantee of such a state.

We have a long battle ahead of us. Educate your children to be Constitutionally literate. Furthermore, help the to become astute and savvily aware of the lures and lies that are used to promote the corrosive socialistic influences that are always present in a society. And most important is to help them recognize the REALITY of our situation. Idealism is important but becoming an ideologue is deadly in all its forms as it removes the ability for an individual to speak to one another.

All that needs to be done for evil to prevail is that good men do nothing -- Edmund Burke

Here is a Petition for us as Citizen's to ask for REDRESS from our elected officials...

I have signed this Petition and I would encourage you to as well. It is hard to believe that this is even needed yet, Mr. Obama continues to refuses to produce his birth certificate.

The Constitution IS NOT "Fundamentally Flawed"!

Unlike our likely 44th President, Mr Obama, I do not believe the Constitution was "fundamentally flawed". I believe it to be inspired and capable of overcoming the insanity that the framers recognized would tear at the new nation's fabric until it was solved. They provided the means and the incentive for what President Lincoln and the Civil War ultimately placed on its final road to oblivion. I fail to see how Obama as a man who would have 200 years ago been considered 3/5th of who he has become can claim that it was fundementally flawed. Perhaps he fails to recognize that the 3/5ths compromise is the very thing that the framers used to table a divisive topic for the future and yet to grant it strong standing when it was next addressed. How can he claim to be a constitutional scholar and miss that salient detail. Perhaps it is just rhetoric but I am annoyed by his comment.

Read it or Listen to it... Either way do it Today!

Ask someone if they know what the Constitution of the United States says about religion and God and they will likely tell you it says to keep them seperated from government. Ask them about the Bill of Rights and the Right to an Abortion. It is scary but over half will say it is there!

Sadly, that isn't a given in this nation anymore. After the last speech I gave on the Bill of Rights that I gave in my Toastmasters International meeting, I had a 62 year old fellow IBEW member tell me that she had never read it or the constitution since she had left high school. She was shocked at some of the clauses when I read them. I had two others say they hadn't read it in over 30 years. There is a general "idea" about what is contained in these two documents out in the public but sadly as I meet people and discuss it with them I find they are operating on heresay at best when it comes to the content of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Here is a University of Chicago, Law School site I came across that has it in audio version for those of you who are avid audio book listeners like myself.

I encoraging people to read (or listen to) and to seek to understand their heritage granted them by these marvelous documents. I don't want to see us trade freedom for security. As we both know when we do that we gain neither. That idea is attributed to Ben Franklin though three is some debate as to its proper attribution in some circles. History is intresting that way.

Respectful Dialog is Important!!!

This posting came out of a discussion family members (and a few friends) were having about Obama and the possiblity that he might not be eligible to run for President of the United States. A discussion that in my family which has its share of self discribed Flaming Liberals, Conservatives, Constitutionalists and a handful of Ostriches, who would rather not discuss the issues our Nation has before it. Each is a person I value and each has insight, even the isolationist. Though I make a point of not mentioning that to them as they don't think they are involved in the discussion.

A cousin stated something profound, in my opinion. He wrote, "...just because people are liberals does not mean we should stop talking to them. ... We can preach to the choir all we want. It takes guts to go out there and say something to someone who may not want to hear it. However, that is how people's minds get changed. I sent it to him knowing he was liberal, he is also a friend of mine... They ought to know what I think about them and their socialist ways. Conservatives have a bad habit of being not able to cope with liberals. I am sure the opposite is true but we can only change ourselves."

In response to that thought and several others I added the following:

We must always be able to speak to one another with respect even if we don't agree, (actually it is acutely more important in that case). Our Founding Fathers did that quite well. Sadly that aspect of our Freedom of Speech is waning as a general apathy concerning the source of those Rights in our Nation; the Constitution and Bill of Rights are increasingly viewed as unimportant. It is a trend on both sides of the isle in Washington and in our Nation as a whole. It is a mistake to sell one's heritage for any reason, because once it is sold it is gone forever. I value debate and the free exchange of ideas. They challenge and stimulate thought and I believe we are lost if we relinquish our own ability to think beyond the boundaries established for us by which ever party has control of our Nation's political establishments. We as people must never forget the blood that was paid as a down payment on this ever so rare and delicate Right of all men and women of every race, religion and creed.

The legal right to become a the President of the United States, is relevant. If we do not respect the laws that govern our nation we can as a nation not expect others to pay any heed to those laws and ideals we hold up as having value. This is one of the biggest lessons we should take from the last eight years. The rule of law IS CRITICAL. Bush was wrong or perhaps he missed the salient point the other side was so adamantly seeking to make due to their vociferous rancor. The rule of law must be adhered to or we will lose respect.

This is why it matters where Obama was born. This is why the Constitution and the Bill of Rights have to be defended. There are many who do not accept the legitimacy of the free exchange of ideologies, on both the Right and the Left.

This is nothing new though, having lived in a former Soviet Republic I can tell you that the News and the Truth (the names of the two State Sponsored newspapers) were notorious for not printing any differing opinions. That is what I fear most about this lack of dialog between the two political camps. They are wrong to advocate an isolationist view. It doesn't serve either side. It actually corrodes the very fabric of what America stands for in the World; which I see as a beacon of hope and for a better tomorrow for not only me, but also for my four children.

Obama doesn't appear to be Eligible to run for President... ???

Based upon the information I have come across and the interviews I have heard I have some SERIOUS questions about the eligibility of Barrack Obama to run for the office of President of the United States.

To summarize the details here are the three things are REQUIRED to become the President of the United States.

1. 35-years old

2. Lived in the US for the past 14 years

3. Natural BORN Citizen

Based upon my research we have a candidate that is NOT ELIGIBLE to become the President of the United States and it has NOTHING to do with race as the media is so crassly seeking to imply. But rather a legitimate disqualification similar to that of the Governator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

First is the easy to watch interview with prominent Pennsylvania Democrat, Philip J. Berg who is suing to have Barrack Obama produce a legitimate birth certificate.

Additionally there is another supporting video that PROVES Obama's Birth Certificate is a forgery (watch border on the certificate shift) and note they have the guy who confessed to making the forgery. That is not normal for identical documents which the base document for the two births would have been.

Just incase you missed Philip J. Berg's radio interview with Dr. Michael Savage, you are going to want to hear the full interview.

I haven't seen any articles in the news on this issue so I googled it. (See the results.)

After all this I am forced to postulate that perhaps in the Network Media's view the MANDATORY nature of citizenship doesn't apply for those who may have been educated as an Indonesian CITIZEN as a Muslim. Which is exactly what they are suggesting by default silence in the absence of any real questions or investigation into the past life history of one"Barry Soetoro", better known to them as THE ONE, who gives them a tingle down their legs. What ever happened to investigative reporters? I guess Bob Woodward is more interested in the currently sitting idiot liberal president, rather than exposing an individual who isn't even legally eligible to run for President of the United States.

If I were Obama I would be fighting this one with a piece of paper! Where is his proof? John McCain provided his documentation but we still haven't seen a "valid" birth certificate from Mr. Obama. I have always believe that where there is smoke there is fire... I will leave the rest to you as an individual to decide. So far in my book he isn't even a citizen, which is scary when you consider the fact that he is a sitting US Senator! I hope that this is wrong, because if it isn't we have a serious problem in our political system. Yet last I heard Mr. Obama was seeking to have the case dismissed rather than providing the documentation it requests and refuting its other claims as sperious.

We have been RAVAGED by the PIRATES in Washington YET AGAIN!!!

I know the Washington elites and their surrogates in the press club will all claim the passage of the $700 Billion Bail-out and the addition of the required amount of "sweetener" $150 Billion in Pork are what this nation needed to survive this MADE UP CRISIS that has NOT AFFECTED my life until now! I have lived my financial life in a RESPONSIBLE fashion and I am OUTRAGED by the INSANITY induced by Washington's addiction to OPM (that's "Other People's Money" for anyone who might not know that financial term)! It translates in Washington to YOU AND I as we are the taxpayers and they have mortgaged our nation in a similar fashion to those foolish enough to take Interest Only 1-Year ARM's! This year marks a truly tragic moment in our Great Nation's history. We the People of the these United States are now whole-heartedly, according to the press surrogates, embracing socialist ideal. This path leads only to misery and pain! Every nation on earth that has tried socialism has paid a high price for the massive waste and fraudulent use of our money!

I wish to thank my Congressman Don Young for standing in the breach and fighting for those core values that we as true patriots and lovers of freedom value most dearly! You have done your job and on November 4th I will do mine and re-elect a true fiscal conservative!

I urge all who read this to do the same replace the villains who have perpetrated this massive theft, upon us as the citizens of this Great Nation! I implore you to PLEASE, Elect the other guy!

I have been watching too many Jane Austin movies...

Yes it is true my wife is a huge Jane Austin fan. If it is a Jane movie we will watch it, as was the case last night. So why would a constitutionally minded blog mention such a movie as, "Northanger Abbey"? Quite simple really, it is due to the conversation I had with my beautiful and astute wife after the Jane feast was over.

Shauna: The aristocracy was really quite horrible.

John: Remind you of any particular political party?

Shauna: Not really.

John: The Democrats.

Shauna: Why?

John: They care more about the image and the financial details of the situation than they do the real core humanity of the situation. It is all about the appearance rather than the substance of any matter.

Shauna: They believed they were better than the average person on the street that they rode past. They despised anyone in a business enterprise that they called, "a trade". The pretended to care nothing of money and to be mindful of those "wretched poor", all the while they were scheming to marry for money or power and spitting upon any of births lower than they perceived themselves.

John: Precisely!

I find as I think about last nights conversation that there is much truth to be had as a generality, though there are clearly some Republicans (we call them RINO's) who have clearly adopted the views of the New Aristocracy. Isn't that an ironic thought the Democrats are yelling about the Republicans being "Robber Barons" when it is they themselves who first adopted their tactics and ideals?

Hallmark, I can no longer support you financially...

This is in response to Hallmark Cards recent decision to publish gay marriage cards. Which to me is not a practice I can condone or support. While I allow others their rights to free association under the law, I cannot continue in good conscience supporting a company that is supporting what I believe to be the unraveling of our Nation's moral fiber. I know many who read this will disagree. That is your right and it is thankfully guarenteed to you by an armed soldier who has sworn to defend the Constitution of the United States. I do not wish to remove that right from you nor do I believe you should seek to remove it from me. Therefore as you ponder responding I encourage you to remember that this is a free nation under God and you have the right of free expression and association and I encourage its exercise by all.

That is why I wrote and set the following letter via email to: Donald J. Hall, Chairman Hallmark Cards 2501 McGee TrafficwayKansas City, MO 64108 Phone: 816-274-5111or: 800-425-5627E-Mail: Donald J. Hall, Hallmark Cards.

Dear Chairman Hall:

The freedom to associate that is afforded each citizen and consumer in America by our Constitution and Bill of Rights is a great two-edged sword. I allows us both to choose with whom and under what circumstances we will allow behavior and financially support that behavior. While I respect your right to do business as you choose I do not and cannot support your decisions finanically.

There was a time that Hallmark ads said "Send the very best". Due to your recent decision to promote a lifestyle that is destructive to individuals and to our society as a whole I now question the validity of that old slogan wholeheartedly. Marriage (between a man and a woman) is the foundation upon which our society stands. Maligned as marriage has become it is still the only sound and proven environment for the raising of children. The exception are just that exceptions and not the norm. Norms are what they are and there is usually a legitimate reason for their existence. As there is in the case of marriage between a man and a woman and the raising of children in a home with a father and a mother. Other lifestyles while fully permitted should never be allowed to destroy the core of family.

I can no longer in good conscience use your cards for my birthday, anniversary or get well messages. This could be considered the type of tragedy that I would send a sympathy card to an individual. However, you would notice that it wasn't a Hallmark card as it would have been manufactured by American Greeting Cards, your competitor.

I trust the $30 that I spend on gift cards will not bring your company undue finanical harm. I just can't support companies that support the destruction of the moral fabric of our nation.

A chance for us who still believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights!

Here is a chance for each of us who still believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to stand up and be counted.

I have signed the Contract with Conservatives Petition and I hope you will too. Perhaps if enough of us sign it, the idiot politicians, (who cannot pass as coherent Energy Bill that includes a domestic supply increase [but that is another topic for another day]), will FINALLY understand what it is we REALLY want them to do for us in Washington DC.

My Best Regards to you All!

Dr. Dobson... Too Litttle.... Too Late!!!!

I know I am going to offend some folks on this one but this is one of those things that has to be said in spite of the annoyance because it is the truth, at least as far as I can see. If Dr. Dobson wants to enlighten us further I will gladly ammend the details but right now this is how it stands... So with further word count inflating... Bill O'Rielly would call it Bloviating... ;) My critical critique of the Dobson endorsement of Huckabee.

I have a real bone to pick with one man today for is "endorsement" of Mike Huckabee as the only conservative left. That man is Dr. Dobson, who I have the greatest amounts of respect and admiration for him on other matters of discussion especially matter of the Family. But frankly speaking I see through his BS endorsement of Huckabee this morning. He in my oppinion all but endorsed Mitt Romney a few days ago but came short of doing so. I have looked at it from several sides and the only answer for why he didn't is a very bigoted reason (which saddens me greatly). He assumed that he could attack McCain and not endorse Romney's only other rival and have us read between the lines as to who he really secretly supported was Mitt Romney. Yes that is what he ment by the letter he sent to Laura Ingram on the eve of Super Tuesday, she had been Mitt's greatest advocate and he knew that by sending her this closet endorsment she would read it and all of us would understand and be willing to vote just like he wanted without ever having to dirty his image in the South. I believe his endorsement given weeks earlier would have made a difference in some of the Southern States. His strategy and obtusiveness backfired on the country and now we all must deal with the reality that we face. To be fair though he wasn't the only one who just didn't get it until it was too late, but he is the most prominate of the bunch. So where does that leave us? John McCain is our man. YUCK! If we are lucky Mitt will accept the VP spot if McCain is smart enough to offer it.

Now this is encouraging to see...

WOW! Now this is how innovation and free enterprise can work hand in hand to build a better tomorrow, without oppressive government regulations. I take may hat off to the founders of the X PRIZE Foundation and their commitment to change the world by inspiring individuals to pursue “a prize and acclaim”. The creation of the Automotive X PRIZE (AXP) is in my opinion as a adamant and devoted constitutionalist this is an inspired approach to environmentalism and conservation or resources. I whole-heartedly approve of this sort of environmental activism that doesn’t ignore the realities of real American everyday life and liberty. Nor does it destroy the spirit that made America the great nation it truly is and can continue to be in the future.

Now if they would offer an X PRIZE for a working MECH, I would be thoroughly ecstatic! Oh well one can always dream right!

Enjoy the read, I know I did and I look forward to following this competition as it unfolds next year.

I would be glad to call McCain the Commander in Chief, if I could call Romney the CEO in Chief!

Mitt Romney officially suspended his Presidential Campaign today in a speech a CPAC. I am disappointed at the loss of the only true conservative leader in this race who truly understands the nature of this economy. Yet I understand the practical realities that motivated him to make such an unpopular move. I was proud of him for the manner in which he did it. He made it very clear that he was suspending it for the good of the nation and I have to admire him for that move. He made it very clear that he was not running for President to satisfy his ego but because he loved his country and felt a need to make a difference. That is the mark of true patriot and statesman. I hope that McCain as much as I despise the majority of his post 2000 years of service and bill will return to his conservative roots and select a true economic conservative to serve as his Vice President.

As much as I have railed against McCain during this Primary Season I should make it very clear that I am in no way shape or form willing to see us retreat from the task at hand in Iraq, as the Dems Obama and Clinton are advocating in their campaigns. As much as I distrust McCain on the economy and immigration if he had Romney at his side to shepard the economy through this period, I would be glad to call McCain the Commander in Chief, if I could call Romney the CEO in Chief!

U.S. Constitution - Discussion Series: Frame Work

As I have watched the struggle for the Republican Nomination this year between Mitt Romney and John McCain, it struck me that too few of my fellow countrymen understand these very documents defining our freedoms. It prompted me to review these precious documents. I have decided to post a short commentary on the United States Constitution and other documents of Founding importance, like the Bill of Rights and letters of our founding fathers.

I have decided to start with the first Ten Amendments to the Constitution of the United States. This is one is the most important Amendment and it is protected by the Second Amendment. Several of the Amendments are composed of very diverse subjects in and as such in an effort not to short change their importance I will break them up into smaller sections.

So without further adieu, the U.S. Constitution - Amendment I

  • Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

How sublime! The Freedom of Religion is given the position of honor and power as the first of the ideals to be protected. While many Americans do not associate themselves with any religion what so ever, there are countless millions who do. Why is this principle "The Freedom of Religion" required for the Freedom and Liberty our Founding Fathers sought to establish?

That is the question I will discuss in detail in my next post.

Looks like my delegate poll data needs an overhaul...

Looks like my delegate poll data needs an overhaul. I am finding Zogby's Polling results to be very questionable. It seems they include a bias for who ever has paid for the poll.

If you run the numbers of delegates an interesting detail appears to me. If Romney won California he would have been 50 delegates ahead of McCain. In essence California has given us a very shakey Republican front runner.

I read an interesting quote from GOPUSA's Tony Blankley this morning.

  • "Assuming John McCain gets the GOP nomination, it will show how whimsical history can be. It would be the first time in living memory that a Republican presidential nomination went to a candidate who was not merely opposed by a majority of the party but was actively despised by about half its rank-and-file voters across the country -- and by many, if not most, of its congressional officeholders."

I understand it there were more than 2 million early voters that will not be counted until next week. There were only 2.2 million Republican voters yesterday that means there are nearly as many uncounted votes as counted in that key state.

Not that it is something to expect but if that vote switched from McCain to Romney's favor it would give Romney a major political coupe and a 51 delegate edge over McCain. It is an extreme outside long shot but it has happened before that race have been changed by the early voters.

I am not holding out hope on this but it is an observation, but that is something I see as I look at the numbers in California this morning.

Just for the fun of it... Super Tuesday Predictions

Just for a bit of fun and to test the spread sheet I have built to calculate the value of polls. It has thus far been wrong on West Virginia, so you can take it with a grain of salt. I just thought it would be of interest to counter this claim in the media that McCain is going to make a Clean Sweep today and capture the nomination.

As predicted by the media and the polls... (This is how the media started the day in the projected delegate count.)

Candidate Delegate Count
John McCain 600
Mitt Romney 475
Mike Huckabee 171
Ron Paul 17

As the polls stand now... (This is the status of the projected delegate count as it stands with OFFICIAL NUMBERS replacing projected poll numbers for WV).

Candidate Delegate Count
John McCain 570
Mitt Romney 475
Mike Huckabee 201
Ron Paul 17

As I suspect it will end up... (This is the status of my projected delegate count as it stands with OFFICIAL NUMBERS replacing projected poll numbers for WV).

Candidate Delegate Count
John McCain 550
Mitt Romney 462
Mike Huckabee 240
Ron Paul 17

In any case does this appear to be a CLEAN SWEEP for McCain?

Romney WINS Maine!!!

In other news not truly being reported Mitt Romney, (the true conservative heir to the Ronaldus Magnus Scepter of Power), wins yet another upset from the McLair and his BS Express. He pulled 18 of the Maine Delegates to bring him just 5 delegates from his previous first place position.

Huckabee scored an abysmal FOUTH PLACE finish in Maine (behind Ron Paul of all canditates of non-showing), and in spite of his 29 delegates the Iowa Huckster is still nothing more than a third tier candidate and if he were a true conservative would have bowed out and thrown his hat to the Romney camp. His petulance in this race leads me to think of him as stuck pig squealing for all he is worth because he knows he is about to be eaten for dinner.

What annoys me most about the Huckster is that he is lying to everybody when he proclaims himself a Christian and a man of high ideals, when he clearly was complicit in the McLiar’s attack on Romney’s clear position against the “Timetables” of the Democrats. Romney is a strong realist who understands that when you have no plan for success you fail! That is all his statement of a secret timetable meant as was clearly delineated by the following question in which he stated he would VETO ANY BILL THAT WAS A TIMETABLE FOR WITHDRAWL.

Regan was a man of honor, McCain while a clear war hero in the past, is no longer a man of integrity. That is clear.

Romney is the Republican Front-Runner...

Back to the Presidential Race, my last post was off just a little because Romney actually won Michigan and Nevada! So our given the count of the day Romney is now the clear front-runner, but there is curiously no mention of this in the mainstream press outlets. Very curious! Could it be they actually fear a Regan-esque president?

Romney has been the closest thing to front-runner for nearly a month and a half now if you have been watching the electoral vote count and Wyoming was swept under the carpet for weeks afterward. Yet another instance of an anti-Romney bias as I see it. It is so annoying to hear the pundits in the newspapers and at FOX and CNN talking about “Mac” like he is some kind of Lazarus! He isn't South Carolina was mostly an Anti-Huckster vote to my eyes. The things I read and saw online clearly showed McCain running as a CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN... (Does anybody actually believe a word he says when his actions on every core issue are in adamant opposition to the values expressed so eloquently by Regan and echoed by Romney?) Anyway, I thought a caller to the Laura Ingram Show summed it up best. He said I am a Romney supporter and I voted for McCain... NOT because I changed my mind on who I want for President, I just didn't want the Huckaburger to gain any further traction. That point seems to shed a ray of light on McCain’s win and leave a slight specter of failure on his South Carolina victory.

The following Real Clear Politics Poll is interesting. (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/fl/florida_republican_primary-260.html). See how Michigan, South Carolina and Nevada hurt the Huckster and Giuliani and helped McCain and Romney. But if you look at the trend it bodes VERY well for Romney. Especially since this is a closed party election. No Dems to come vote for McCain in this one! Romney has always scored high with the base and that is a point that has been lost in the chatter of the talking heads. The relevant point that I think I see is one that Pat Buchanan has made recently, If Romney wins Florida then come the following Super Tuesday, Romney will likely solidify enough votes and momentum to capture the nomination.

As I look at Florida I see it largely as a springboard state, very much like Giuliani has been saying all these months. So Giuliani isn't mistaken in think Florida will be a springboard state. He is just wrong about it being his springboard.
But that is my opinion on the insanity….

Two Silver Medals could Lead to a Gold in the End

With the second of the Presidential Primary votes complete to my way of thinking there is only one clear winner; Mitt Romney. But, he came in second in each contest you say. My point exactly, I shall reply.

First let’s look at “The Corn Huckster”, he won Iowa, but Mitt Romney was right there close behind him.

Second there is Johnny “I have been here before New Hampshire and not won so what makes this any different” McCain. He won New Hampshire by a margin similar to his previous victory in New Hampshire. Then there is behind him that familiar face Mitt Romney.

So returning to "The Huckster" is not a relevant candidate in New Hampshire, making him look a bit like a one hit nobody. That is how many of us conservatives see him, especially when he joins forces to play the “enemy of my enemy” is my friend game with Johnny Mac. Mac is a clear and obvious RINO and no conservative candidate. Nevertheless, RINOs run together, after all, any man who wants to force employer so to look closely at an employee's health habits and outlaw smoking is in my book a RINO and a rather far left leaning RINO at that. In case, you had not heard that RINO is “The Huckster”.

Sadly, Federalist Fred did not really make an effort to compete in New Hampshire or Iowa, he looks and speaks Presidential, but he acts as if it is not his burning desire. I wish it were not so. However, Wishes win no election, if they were the current Governor of Alaska would be a man named Andrew and not the current “Vogue Princess” who has no clothes; that sad state of affairs is another RINO issue entirely and of little importance to the national scene.

Thankfully, Rudy "I wouldn't know what the Constitution of United States was even if it were a snake wrapped itself around my leg and bit me; but I was the face of 9/11 so you should vote for me" Giuliani, has not made any showing in either state and we can pray this is a trend that continues.

All of this leads me to believe that while many may not openly support Mitt "the Mormon" Romney it is he who has been the big winner of these two contests. He has been consistent; and his numbers are nothing to be ignored. In fact, if you compare the numbers of the two states as a whole Mitt Romney has garnered more votes than any other candidate has.

The real test for all of these candidates is still ahead and if Michigan reveals yet another one state winner it will surely be Mitt Romney who is the man behind the scene proving yet again he has not just one state that supports him but three in the larger picture. He will begin to be the one constant face in the crowd on the Republican Arena, if this current trend continues. Time and a few more states, especially the Super Tuesday States will be the deciding factor for many of these candidates. However, if it remains a toss up into the Convention, I would predict that out of the confusion the man who is always second would indeed become the first, while the man who takes the most will be VP.
